New From Virbac: Zenifel for Cats

Virbac has introduced the Zenifel line of pheromone products designed to calm cats and improve their well-being. Zenifel Gel Diffuser provides up to two months of calming effects without the need for an electrical outlet. Zenifel Spray is a bottled, odorless product. According to Virbac, both items combine feline facial pheromones with plant-based Nepeta cataria (catnip) extracts.


Zoetis Earns Updated Label Indications

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved new label indications for three Zoetis products: Simparica Trio, Simparica Chewables and Revolution Plus. Simparica Trio and Simparica Chewables now treat and control Asian longhorned ticks in dogs 8 weeks or older and weighing at least 2.8 pounds. Zoetis reported that Revolution Plus is now the only feline combination preventive indicated to prevent flea tapeworm infections at the source by killing vector fleas before transmission.


Midmark Wins Good Design Award

Midmark Corp. has received The Chicago Athenaeum’s Good Design Award for the Midmark Mobile Dental Delivery System. According to the company, the compact, next-generation system integrates essential tools and easy-to-read icons that streamline veterinary dentistry workflow.

Revelation Pharma Adds Animal Health Arm

Atlanta-based Revelation Pharma has launched Revelation Animal Health to provide custom-compounded medications for patients ranging from companion pets to exotic animals in zoos and aquariums. “Expansive plans for the future include animal dietary supplements, nationwide availability of wholesale items through Revelation Wholesale, and expert clinical consulting from anywhere in the country,” Revelation Pharma stated.


Talkatoo Summarizes Client Calls

Talkatoo, a voice-to-text app for veterinary practices, has added a call-summary feature to help veterinarians manage essential client calls more efficiently. According to Talkatoo, the tool records, transcribes and summarizes every call, instantly delivering an AI-generated summary, transcript and audio recording to the user’s note inbox, “which can easily be converted into a SOAP note.”


NAVC Launches Animal Relief Fund

The North American Veterinary Community, publisher of Today’s Veterinary Business, has started a fundraising campaign to assist animals impacted by Southern California wildfires. The effort will be promoted at the VMX conference in Orlando, Florida. NAVC will match up to $25,000 in donations, with every dollar going to the Pasadena Humane Wildfire Relief Fund.


IndeVets Helps California Veterinarians Find Work

The IndeVets staffing firm has expanded into California, the company’s 33rd state. “Veterinarians in California now have access to IndeVets’ flexible scheduling options, giving them the freedom to choose when, where and how they work, which has been proven to significantly reduce burnout and enhance job satisfaction,” the company reported.

Heart + Paw Gets a New CVO

Dr. George Melillo, the co-founder and chief veterinary officer of the Heart + Paw veterinary practice group, is stepping down. He will “focus on supporting team members and fostering the future pipeline of veterinarians and joint venture partner doctors,” the company stated. Heart + Paw’s vice president of operations, Dr. Mary Peacock, replaced Dr. Melillo as CVO.


Pawlicy Advisor Achieves Million-Plus Milestone

The online pet insurance marketplace Pawlicy Advisor has helped over 1 million visitors since its 2018 founding. In other news, Paul Piggott, formerly with Trupanion, was appointed the head of marketing.


Cardiac Education Group Redesigns Website

The not-for-profit Cardiac Education Group has updated its website, cardiaceducationgroup.org. “This significant update provides veterinary professionals with continuing education credits and access to comprehensive resources on the diagnosis, treatment and management of heart disease and heart failure in dogs and cats to promote early detection and diagnosis with greater accuracy and confidence,” the organization stated.


Bionet Offers Super Air Smart ICU

Bionet America Inc. has released the Super Air Smart Intensive Care Unit, a high-tech environment optimized for critical care, oxygen therapy and other treatments. According to the company, the product “offers several benefits not available with traditional ICUs, such as efficient oxygenation and CO2 management, air purification using ionization technology, and better environment control through air heating and cooling while monitoring humidity.”


AZPetVet Becomes Lovet Pet Health Care

The 22-hospital AZPetVet network has rebranded itself Lovet Pet Health Care. The company also unveiled its flagship location in Chicago’s West Loop under an initiative to “ease the concerns of pet parents by always offering free exam fees and same-day appointments.”
